A 1997 film chronicling the
revolutionary era of 20th century China (1911-1949) from the
contrasting perspectives of three American educated sisters,
each of which married very important leaders and had an
important impact on the development of contemporary China. The film ends with actual footage of the KMT retreating to
Taiwan and
Mao Zedong starting the new Communist era in the mainland as
People's Republic of China in 1949.
